Blogging with the world...

Hi peers, before I start my weekly blogging, theres something for me to share. This blog site of mine will serve as a learning journal for all whos taking Com125 (Introduction to Internet) along with me and it shall contain some reflections and interesting facts which we may never have learnt before. I hope it'll be an enjoyment for all..happy reading =)

I don't have a personal blog maybe because I find blogging time consuming and I have only done blogging for compulsory school assignments... Nevertheless, I find blogging particularly useful in today's society.

Blogging is an influential phenomenon that is gaining recognition around the world. Since 1999, weblogs have grown and proliferated through the development of weblog publishing services such as Live Journal, Blogger.com and Pitas etc. We can identify 2 distinct groups of bloggers; personal & non-personal bloggers. I came across this website http://www3.ntu.edu.sg/sci/sirc/workingpapers/Blog%20Ethics.pdf and was quite surprised to know that non-personal bloggers are likely to be male and the reasons to why people make use of Computer Mediated-Communication. There is less perceived social risk (deminished personal cost if interactions or relationships fail) and there is less social responsibility towards others than face-to-face communication.
